Breakthrough Agenda Report 2023

It’s timely that the International Energy Agency (IEA), the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the UN Climate Change High-Level Champions have jointly produced and released the Breakthrough Agenda Report 2023.

The second in the annual series, it assesses progress on international collaboration in seven major emitting sectors, power, hydrogen, road transport, steel, agriculture, buildings and cement.

Should countries agree to work together towards breakthrough goals in 7 sectors, as is now being considered, the Breakthrough Agenda will cover 60% of global greenhouse gas emissions.

Global hydrogen leaders attend H2 MEET

We recently had the pleasure of attending H2 MEET, one of the world’s largest hydrogen summits at in Goyang, South Korea.

Bringing together global leaders from across the hydrogen industry, this year’s conference placed a key focus on how cutting-edge technology plays a key role in ramping up the hydrogen economy with insights from industry pioneers right through to policymakers.

It was fantastic to not only meet hydrogen industry colleagues from across the globe, but also have the opportunity to provide a brief introduction and overview to the Green Springs Hydrogen Project in the Northern Territory.

Our CTO, Dr Jeremy Harris, outlined the novel modular design approach Climate Impact are taking with Green Springs to supply Korea with green energy molecules to assist with the decarbonising journey.

We wanted to say a big thank you to our partners, Australian Trade Commission, for their collaboration at this year’s H2 MEET and for their ongoing support.

600 million tonnes of carbon offset over the life of the project

The Green Springs Hydrogen project will make a considerable contribution to offsetting carbon emissions with approximately 600 million tonnes of carbon offset over the life of the project.

US$2/kg production price by 2030

Climate Impact is confident that the Green Springs Hydrogen project will achieve a production of US$2/kg by 2030.

Project equipment and
manufacture update

Climate Impact is in advanced discussion with manufacturers of key equipment to secure the supply chain for the Green Springs Hydrogen project. These discussions include a potential joint venture agreement to manufacture the equipment in Australia.

Positioning Hydrogen
Conference 2022

Climate Impact’s Chairman, David Green, has been invited to speak at the Positioning Hydrogen Conference in Melbourne, Australia in November 2022. David’s speech will discuss lessons learnt from the development of a large-scale renewable hydrogen projects.

Positioning Hydrogen
Conference 2022

Climate Impact’s Founding Partner, Nicholas O’Day, has been invited to Chair the session on real-time application of advanced technology in the emerging hydrogen market at the Positioning Hydrogen Conference in Melbourne, Australia in November 2022.

All Energy Conference 2022

Climate Impact’s Chairman, David Green, has been invited to present at the All Energy Conference in Melbourne, Australia in October 2022 on Hydrogen: Project Consideration Export. There was considerable interest in the Green Springs Hydrogen project at the conference, given its location is the lowest Levelised Cost of Hydrogen in the world, and Climate Impact’s supply and value chain strategy.

Darwin Hydrogen Hub receives

The Australian Government has committed almost A$1.5billion towards the development of the Darwin Hydrogen Hub in its recently released Budget October 2022-23.

The Australian Government announces $25 billion for renewables and clean energy

The Australian Government has committed almost A$25 billion towards clean energy and renewables projects under its recently released Budget October 2022-23. The budget provides greater direction for the industry and backs the Government’s net zero commitment by 2050.

Green Springs Hydrogen project
is ideally located to utilise
transport networks

Located in the heart of the Northern Territory, the Green Springs Hydrogen project is ideally situated to utilise existing transport facilities and networks to transport products across Australia and to the Darwin based Hydrogen Hub for export. The national rail line is within one kilometre from one side of the proposed project site, and the national highway is within one kilometre from the other side. The Amadeus Gas Pipeline also runs next to the proposed site.

Green Springs Hydrogen location

The Green Springs Hydrogen project is set to be located on 12,000 hectares of land in the Northern Territory of Australia.

Climate Impact to be support
by Austrade

Climate Impact is delighted to be supported by Austrade, the Australian Government’s international trade promotion and investment attraction agency, in progressing its Green Springs Hydrogen project.

Avoiding Australian cyclones

With extreme weather events expected to worsen with climate change, Climate Impact has chosen a site for the Green Springs Hydrogen project that will not be affected by cyclones like many other Australian hydrogen projects. This results in Green Springs Hydrogen having lower capital and operating costs.
